Geological Survey Ireland participates in a number of national events every year. This gives people the chance to interact with our scientists, understand our data, have a chat, and maybe even win a prize or two!
Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition
We have a large, interactive stand at the Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition every year in January. Join us to experience the lighter side of geology and have some fun! For students, if your project has a geological component, you could be with a chance of winning our coveted Stripe YSTE geology award.
Irish Geological Research Meeting
The Irish Geological Research Meeting is an all-Island annual event hosted by the geoscience departments in our research institutes, taking place late February-early March.
National Heritage Week
Every year many geological events are organised across the country in August for National Heritage Week.
National Ploughing Championships
Geological Survey Ireland team members will be on-site in September at the Climate Action tent in the Government of Ireland village in Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, to answer your questions about your land and everything underneath it. We also perform demonstrations and explain geological models.
