Geoscience for Planning

The Geological Survey Ireland (GSI) provides information to assist planning in Ireland.

Data is freely available to view and download.

The data is useful for preparing plans, policies and environmental assessments.

The data is freely available to all and can be used as independent scientific data in assessments, plans or policies. It should be noted that in many cases the data is a baseline or starting point for further site-specific assessments. The publicly available data should in no way be interpreted as GSI support for or objection to a proposed development or plan.

Several of our datasets are referred to in legislation and/or associated guidance documentation. It is important that these datasets are considered when preparing environmental assessments and planning applications and at the design stage of developments.
