Earth Observation (EO) from space is becoming mature enough to provide valuable information for the coastal community with an interest on better managing the risk of coastal erosion.
The European Space Agency (ESA) has funded the "Coastal Change from Space" project to explore the feasibility of producing the information needed by the end-users.
In this workshop, we will collaboratively explore how monitoring coastal erosion from space can contribute to better managing coastal change and flooding risk to communities, businesses and infrastructure in Ireland at national and local scales.
We will do this through three focused sessions followed by panel discussions. Sessions are designed to be self-contained , but attending all three is highly recommended.
Session 1: What is feasible to observe from space with existing Earth Observation civil technology?
Session 2: How confident are we on the coastal changes detected from space?
Session 3: How can this information be used to build a more resilient coastal management strategy in Ireland?
