The Institute of Geologists of Ireland is delighted to announce that Anthony Deevy will present a talk entitled: "The Journey of a Mining and Exploration Geologist – where a geology degree can take you".
Anthony Deevy graduated with a geology degree from UCC in 1964 and a Masters in Mineral Exploration from the Royal School of Mines in 1967. He has worked in the exploration & mining sector for almost a half a century, his experience including base metals & uranium exploration in Ireland; evaluation work on the Parys Mountain VMS deposit at Anglesey, Wales; as a mine geologist at the Jaculet copper-gold mine in Quebec and the Avino silver-gold mine in Mexico; gold exploration in the Timmins area, Canada, as well as consulting assignments in Central & South America and east Africa. Anthony, a long term IGI member, now holds Retired Member status of the Institute.
