This visit is organised by the Galway Geological Association.​

The visit to Glengowla will include:

•  guided tour of the mine
• entry to the museum
• short talk on Glengowla's contribution to the Irish Seismology Network
• gold panning

A new level of the mine has recently been opened to visitors.

Entry fee to Glengowla Mines:  €6.00.

For those interested, there may be an additional stop at Oughterard on the return journey, depending on water levels, to view the pearl mussel, a rare bivalve protected under the EU Habitats Directive.
