Hydrogeological Assessment of the Groundwater Resources in the Boyne Catchment

Published:

The Groundwater and Geothermal Unit of Geological Survey Ireland has reviewed groundwater resource potential in the east of Ireland as part of its GW3D project.  This report series investigates the groundwater resources in 32 catchments in the east of Ireland. To understand which groundwater resources are likely to provide long-term, sustainable and resilient sources of water, the Groundwater and Geothermal Unit has developed a methodology which considers (a) the groundwater resource potential and (b) potential considerations to future abstractions within each catchment.  The aim of these reports is to prioritise the investigation of groundwater resources within each catchment.

This report details the hydrogeological assessment of the groundwater resources in the Boyne Catchment.  Within the Boyne hydrogeological assessment, the reader will find a compilation of all relevant, readily available hydrogeological information for the Boyne Catchment; a hydrogeological conceptual model for the Boyne Catchment which is used to provide a basis for prioritising further investigations into groundwater resources in the Boyne Catchment.
