Tellus involves two types of surveying – airborne geophysical surveying using a low-flying aircraft and ground-based geochemical surveying of soil, stream water and stream sediment.
The latest phase of the Tellus airborne survey will see the aircraft move into south central Ireland, across counties Laois, Tipperary, Kilkenny and neighbouring parts of Carlow, Kildare, Offaly, Cork and Waterford. The survey aircraft commenced flying in September 2020 and will continue into spring 2021.

The Tellus ground survey commenced soil sampling in mid-September 2020 and will continue into spring 2021, soil samplers are working across parts of counties Wicklow, Kildare, Laois, Carlow, Kilkenny, Offaly, Tipperary and Wexford.
