A magnitude 2.4 earthquake occurred in Donegal Bay just before midnight on Sunday April 7, 2019. The earthquake was confirmed by the Irish National Seismic Network (INSN) at the Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies (DIAS). INSN is operated by DIAS in co-operation with Geological Survey Ireland, a division of the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment. INSN has six permanent seismic stations in Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Wexford, Dublin and Louth. The graph shows the earthquake at all six stations. Earthquake events such as the one experienced by people in Donegal are not uncommon in the region.
