Release of 3 New Quaternary Maps

​​The results from recent field programmes to improve the Quaternary geology map of Ireland are now freely available and ready for download and use in GIS software. These map packages can be accessed from the Quaternary Data & Maps page (under IQUAD packages).

The new map packages available are:
• Lough Allen Area
• Cavan Lake District
• Parts of Counties Monaghan, Cavan, Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon

The data in the map packages include the Quaternary sediment map (delineating the different types of Quaternary sediment units), Quaternary geomorphology map (showing the landscape features that developed over the course of the Quaternary Period), field records (from outcrop and borehole locations), geophysics profile locations and laboratory results (stone-counts and PSA). 

All data have been compiled for use at the scale of 1:50,000.
