Geological Survey Ireland are delighted to announce the release of the Arup/TII Dublin Calp model on our 3D viewer.
The model is of the Calp limestone in Dublin City Centre. It was produced by Arup for TII using Leapfrog software with ground information data collected from three large scale infrastructure projects, namely MetroLink, Metro North, and DART Underground along with supplementary GSI and in-house Arup data. Due to the extensive overlying glacial till in Dublin City Centre which can extend up to 30 metres thick, bedrock exposures are limited. The Calp model displays the depth to and weathering characteristics of the Calp Limestone in the city centre.
This allows for easy visualisation of the ground underneath this part of the city and can be used by key stakeholders, designers and contractors to inform decision making around preliminary project costings, ground investigation scoping, and construction decisions.
