Geological Survey Ireland in partnership with Ireland's Fossil Heritage, a science engagement project funded by Science Foundation Ireland and based at UCC, has announced the National Fossil Art Contest 2024. This contest, themed "Irish Fossils ALIVE", is open to young artists across the island of Ireland, aiming to celebrate and explore the rich fossil heritage of Ireland through artistic expression.
Key Details:
- Deadline for Submissions: 29th March 2024, 5 pm.
- Age Categories: Under 8, 9–12, 13–15, and 16–18 years.
- Prizes: Prizes range from a €500 One-4-All voucher for the overall winner, exclusive tours of UCC's fossil laboratories for category winners, to framed prints, T-shirts, and fossil kits for runners-up and commendable mentions.
- Exhibition: Winners will have the opportunity to showcase their artwork at the prestigious Glucksman Art Gallery in Cork, May 2024.
- Participation: Entrants are allowed up to two submissions each, with an Application Form required for each entry. All participants are encouraged to review the contest guidelines and rules to ensure eligibility
