Hyperspectral Data Release

Published:

Geological Survey Ireland are delighted to announce the release of worked examples of hyperspectral image processing.

We have two hyperspectral cameras (Short Wave Infra-red and Medium Wave Infra-red) as part of our core scanning suite.

To date this suite has generated over 7Tb of data.

We are releasing a single scanned box of core as a sample of the data. This box can be used with our interactive python notebooks so people can process a box of hyperspectral data themselves using the same techniques as we do.

The data can be downloaded from our download page and the worked examples are available from our github repository.

With these releases we hope to demonstrate the potential of hyperspectral core scanning to improve Irish stratigraphy and Irish mineral exploration.

The rest of the hyperspectral data is available for free on request.
