6 Temporary Graduate positions now open at Geological Survey Ireland

​Geological Survey Ireland, a division of the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, is Ireland's national earth science knowledge centre, working on behalf of the Irish public. 6 positions are now open for graduate geologists to work for 11 months and gain valuable experience in the Earth Science sector in Ireland.

Work location, field work and office work will be carried out in accordance with the relevant COVID-19 public health guidelines in place during a graduate geologist's contract.

There is one available position within each of the following programmes:

  1. Tellus;
  2. Marine and Coastal Unit;
  3. Groundwater and Geothermal Unit;
  4. Geological Mapping;
  5. Geoheritage; and
  6. Minerals.

Requirements

  • Applicants must hold, or be due to be conferred with, an Honours degree (2.2 or higher) in Geology or a related discipline. Year of graduation must be 2020, 2021 or 2022.
  • Applicants must hold a full driving licence.

  • Cover letter should outline your suitability for the role
  • Closing date for applications is 13:00 (Irish Time) on Thursday 14 April 2022
  • Late applications received after the above deadline will not be considered
  • All applications will be reviewed for shortlisting by Geological Survey Ireland staff based on application forms and cover letters submitted
  • Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed
  • Successful candidates must be available to begin work on Monday 23 May 2022
  • Canvassing will result in disqualification
  • Salary for the 11 months is based on €33,149 (per annum)
