A well attended Seminar at Engineers Ireland HQ on 26 November heard a presentation from Jukka Ahonen of Mincon PLC on its innovative Spiral Flush drilling technology. Designed to minimise the impact of piling and foundation works on adjacent properties, Spiral Flush has been successfully deployed for  many construction and infrastructure projects .

The Seminar also heard from Brian Byrne of IT Carlow on the recently launched Geo-Drilling Apprenticeship commencing in January 2020 which will provide formal training and recognition for the very skilled and important work carried by  drillers for water, minerals and  geotechnical information.

The Seminar was host to the keynote Glossop Medal Lecture by Dr Kevin Privett of the University of Portsmouth on comparing new lines of evidence with traditional techniques for geotechnical mapping and investigations .
