EGU and UGEG meeting in Vienna

​Sophie O'Connor presented in the Urban geology session in the EGU "From paper reports to 3D models for all: Irish geodata in urban settings".

She highlighted the importance of open geological data that GSI offers and how GSI can transfer paper information into free digital data accessible to everyone within the urban catchment.

The biannual meeting of the Urban Geology Expert Group (UGEG) took place in Vienna, Austria from Thursday, 11th of April to Friday, 13th of April.  The meeting was organized by the Geological Survey of Austria.

The meeting was attended by 2 members of the Urban Geology programme from Geological Survey Ireland.

The meeting consisted in the progress of the planning activities the expert group is working on and a half a day field trip:

  • Geo CIM and 3D models.
  • Presentation of the UGF trailer of the video.Presentation of the video will be in November in Brussels.
  • Update of the UGEG website and transfer of data from the suburban websiteAn agreement of future actions and more collaboration with other expert groups.
