National Heritage Week, an initiative by the Heritage Council, celebrates all things heritage. It brings together communities, families, organisations, cultural institutions, academics and enthusiasts, to build awareness about the value of heritage and support its conservation.
The 2021 National Heritage Week will run from the 14 to the 22 August and this year's theme is "Open the Door to Heritage". National Heritage Week will also see the continued celebration of themed heritage days, when project organisers can develop specific themed activities. There will be a "Wild Child Day" on the 18 August and a "Water Heritage Day" on the 22 August.
Visit the National Heritage Week website for inspiration and see the geology themed events listed.
This timetable shows the various geological events happening around Ireland throughout the week coordinated by Geological Survey Ireland and others. It will be updated as new events are uploaded to the Heritage Week website.
