3rd Annual Irish Earth Observation Symposium: 12th - 13th November 2009, Geological Survey of Ireland, Dublin.

This year's theme was "Earth Observation in Ireland, Acquisition, Analysis and Application"

The idea for an annual gathering of those working in Earth Observation in Ireland was conceived at an international meeting in early 2007, when the four Irish representatives commented that there were at that time no opportunities for presenting and disseminating work being done at a national level. Subsequently, two successful symposia have been held

The first symposium took place in Teagasc headquarters in November 2007 with the stated objective of "bringing together Earth Observation and remote sensing researchers in order to better comprehend the 'state-of-play' in Ireland and to foster future collaborations.”  The meeting met its objective to such an extent that the planning for the second smposiium was rapidly set in train and it occured in UCC in November 2008.  It drew an audience of 70, significantly up from the 2007 gathering and now it's on to 2009.
