Minerals Inventory (MinLocs Database)
The Section maintains a computerized database which contains summary information for over 5,450 known mineral localities in the State. The database fields include map sheet numbers, national grid coordinates, the townland name (and locality name if different), locality type, mineral type(s), sources of information and a brief description of the site.
For many of the localities, especially occurrences of non-metallic minerals, additional paper information may be available.
Access to the database is provided by enquiries to staff within the Minerals Section.
Charges
The cost of accessing the database is dependent on the number of sites output from a search. For paper output the charge is €? per site, subject to a minimum access charge of €?. For digital output a fee of €? gives up to 50 sites with €? per site charge after that. The entire database can be purchased for €?. Digital data can be provided in a variety of formats and via e-mail.
