Mine Records

The Mine Records comprise drawings, plans and documents relating to Ireland’s rich mining heritage. Many of the records date back to the last century and are preserved as part of the National Archive. The databank also contains more recent information (for worked-out deposits such as Tynagh, Silvermines, Gortdrum etc.). There are approximately 200 individual deposits (not all of them are or were mines) with information for each ranging from just a single item to many hundreds of items. Items would include some or all of the following - production figures, feasibility studies, drill logs, metallurgical studies, mining studies, mine plans, mine sections, Geological Survey studies and/or observations. Commodities mined, range from base metals to precious metals, fossil fuels and industrial minerals.

GSI provides access to the Records by prior appointment, which should be made with Gerry Stanley. Tel: 01-6782863 Fax:01-6782589
