MOUNT LEINSTER LANDSCAPES

EVENT: MOUNT LEINSTER LANDSCAPES

DATE: Saturday 25 August 2007

TIME: 14.30.

MEET: The Nine Stones Carpark, County Carlow (approach from Borris or Bunclody)

ADMISSION: FREE.

This is a guided walk to explore Mount Leinster's landscape and rocks, how they formed and the scientists that studied them.

The event is suitable for children and families are very welcome (but dogs only on leads). No wheelchair access unfortunately.

8. Karst Landscapes of Cavan and Fermanagh

Join the Belfast Geologists Society as they visit some of the finest karst landscapes in Counties Cavan and Fermanagh. Trip will take place both with the current Marble Arch Caves European Geopark and in the proposed expanded Geopark area.

9. Geopark Safari around Cuilcagh Mountain

Guided bus trip showing some of the sites of the proposed expanded Marble Arch Caves European Geopark in Counties Cavan and Fermanagh. Visitors will also get the chance to visit the Marble Arch showcaves.

Date: Sunday 2nd September

Time: 9.00AM and 9.30AM

Meet: Coach will collect participants at Cootehill Courthouse at 9.00AM and at Cavan Courthouse at 9.30AM.

10. Landrover track tour of Cuilcagh Mountain Park

Take a landrover tour of the natural heritage of Cuilcagh Mountain Park. The tour will explore some of the areas restored blanket bog as well as some of the karst features and other geology of the mountain.

11. Limestone landscape walking trail

Join the Marble Arch Caves European Geopark staff as they lead you through some of this unusual landscape looking at the unique plants and animals that live in such an area as well as explaining how these strange rock features form.
