Seamless 1:100,000 Bedrock Geology Map
A revised version of the digital 1:100,000 bedrock map has been released. Geological unit polygons and lines have been fitted to the OSI detailed coastline and projected to ITM, topology and coding errors have been corrected, and legacy sheet-by-sheet inconsistencies across the map have been standardised. Master style files for unit polygons and geological lines are included, along with metadata.

The map is linked to stratigraphical lexicon tables, giving a definition and description for every unit. The map is now available as a download in two formats:
- an ArcGIS map package
- a series of individual ArcGIS shapefiles and layer files with an .mxd The map will become the bedrock layer in our data viewers in the near future.

The map is a representation of current knowledge and will be updated periodically as new detailed mapping appears. Revised mapping from 1:50,000 scale compilations around Dublin, Galway and Cork have been ‘cut into’ the current version of the 1:100,000 map. The recently released 1:50,000 Northeastern block bedrock map has not yet been included in this 100k map.

Both datasets are available from our download page.
