Online access to INFOMAR data
1 June 2007. Today GSI has delivered on a challenging deadline to go live with a large traunch of online data. In line with the recent Ministerial announcement that GSI data are to be provided to customers online and free of charge, GSI has worked with Intrepid Geophysics, a leading Australian software development company, towards the achievement of this goal. Today, a range of INFOMAR and GSI onshore digital datasets are now available online via a new Interactive Web Data Delivery System.
A collaborative and fruitful work environment between GSI and Intrepid has produced a fast, easy to use, and simple system in a remarkably short period of time. The system allows any client to log onto the GSI web site, select an area of interest, inspect a catalogue of available data, and then place the selections in a shopping basket for delivery.
According to Martin O'Malley of Intrepid the vision of Noel Dempsey TD., Minister of Communications, Marine & Natural Resources to make GSI geoscience data available to the wider community via the internet "is to be highly commended and in my experience clearly places Ireland at the forefront of the international Geoscience community."
