Irish Geology Week 2007
Irish Geology Week - May 1-8 - is a week of events giving everybody the opportunity to experience some of the richness of Irish Geology and learn a little more in the company of an expert. All events are free and no previous knowledge of geology is required.

Geology group at Horn Head, DonegalIrish Geology Week is organised by ES2k (Earth Science 2000), an independent organisation raising awareness of earth science throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Geologists from a range of organisations and bodies are giving their time to share some of the interest that geology provides them in their daily work. About 30 events are planned from Antrim to Cork and from Dublin to Galway.

Geology plays a vital part in our everyday lives although it is often not appreciated. However, this week is simply aimed at helping people learn more about geology by connecting with their local landscape and places of interest. Most events are short and intended to give a taster rather than a feast. Some events are on weekday early evenings as well as a wide range of weekend walks and activities.
