Geological Heritage Exhibition featuring at Roscommon Lamb Festival
The Roscommon Lamb Festival, running from the 26th April to 1st May, will feature an exhibition on the ‘Geological Heritage of County Roscommon’ in Roscommon Branch Library. The exhibition is based on the audit of County Geological Sites in Roscommon which was carried out in 2012 as a partnership between the Geological Survey, Roscommon County Council and the Heritage Council. The audit identified 29 County Geological Sites that are now recognised and protected through the Roscommon County Development Plan.
The book ‘Karst, Turloughs and Esker’ was also published following the audit and is available from Roscommon County Council Heritage Officer and the Geological Survey.
The exhibition will run for two weeks around the Lamb festival and will be accessible during library opening hours (Tuesdays to Saturdays).
