Ireland's Scenic Landscapes - Sites Walks & Field Trips
For a country that is small in size, Ireland is home to an exceptional diversity of landscapes. Even if one does not understand the geological story that underpins them one can still appreciate their splendour.
GSI staff sometimes lead walks and field trips in different areas around the country, particularly as events during National Heritage Week. Here we provide some basic field notes about some of these more interesting walks and sites (some are more comprehensive than others!). From the list below click on the title of a location of your choice to see some details and/or imagery.
We would like to build on this series over time. Doubtless there are hundreds of possibilities for inclusion in the series. Each of us probably has our own particular favourite Irish landscape scene. If yours isn't in this series why don't you let us know and provide us with some information or photos?!
Ease in to this section gently by viewing a selection of photos of just a few of Ireland's best landscapes....
